Sexual reproductive health education for adolescent
women and mothers
(Day for girls)
This social initiative is implemented by scholarship students in professional careers in medical sciences. The main objective is to help more adolescent mothers of families in rural areas to access basic information on reproductive sexual health in order to have better quality, safety and substantial feminine hygiene. The training topics facilitated by the students are: Physiological changes and processes in adolescence, sexually transmitted diseases, prevention of pregnancy in adolescence, contraceptive methods, prevention of intrauterine and breast cancer. The social initiative also contemplates the delivery of a reusable sanitary napkin kit, which explains the use and care of it. The communities benefited in this year 2022 are: El Pochote, Ojo de Agua, Tortuga, Carrizal in the municipality of San Juan del Sur.
Within the social initiative, training was contemplated for students awarded scholarships by a doctor specialized in the subject of reproductive sexual health in order for students to obtain more knowledge for a better development of training for the beneficiaries of the social initiative.
The implementation of this project is thanks to the solidarity and alliance between the A. Jean Brugger Foundation of the municipality of San Juan del Sur and the “International Days for Little Women Foundation” a non-profit NGO in the US and who has donated the kits of reusable sanitary napkins.
