The local Lions Club held their first diabetes prevention and awareness fair in SJDS on Saturday, January 29. Members of the Club reached out to FAJB for volunteers, and four of our scholarship students in the medical sciences careers participated. They took blood pressure and blood glucose samples and counseled attendees on diabetes care and prevention measures; all done free of charge.

Fifty-six members of the community, between the ages of 7 to 88 years, took advantage of the opportunity.

We congratulate the members of the Lions Club for this contribution to community education and health and thank them for inviting the Fundación A. Jean Brugger to participate. We also congratulate our scholarship students, Brandon Vargas (5th year of medicine), Lismadiela Yubank (5th year of medicine), Jimena Lugo (3rd year of medicine) and Kevin Ruiz (5th year of Medical Technology) for participating in this service to the community.
