SOCIAL SERVICE
Sexual reproductive health education for adolescent women and mothers (Day for girls)
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
This social initiative is carried out by seven students with scholarships in medical sciences. Its main objective is to provide basic information on sexual and reproductive health to young people and mothers of families in rural areas, in order to improve their quality of life, safety and guarantee sustainable feminine hygiene.
The training topics addressed include physiological changes and processes during adolescence, prevention of early pregnancy, STIs, as well as the prevention of uterine and breast cancer. In addition, as part of the initiative, a kit of washable ecological sanitary pads is provided, accompanied by instructions on their use and care.
The goal is to benefit 150 adolescent women and mothers of families from five communities (Carlos Contreras, Nacascolo, Escamequita, Collado and La Libertad) in the municipality of San Juan del Sur.
It is worth noting that the Foundation provides advice and support to the students responsible for this social initiative, as well as training provided by doctors specializing in sexual, reproductive and genetic health, in order to strengthen their knowledge and skills to provide better care to the beneficiaries. The activities in the community will be carried out for 6 months starting in May 2024.
