SOCIAL SERVICE
Medical counseling for people with chronic non-communicable diseases “If I know, I prevent and extend my life”
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
This social initiative is carried out by a group of seven scholarship students in medical sciences. It consists of facilitating talks focused on the management and prevention of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, among others.
The main objective of this initiative is to provide medical guidance in the care, attention and prevention of chronic diseases both in people who suffer from them and those who have high factors in developing them. The talks provide guidelines and strategies to counteract the harmful effects that these diseases can cause in the body, in order to improve the quality of life of the beneficiaries. In addition, it seeks to integrate families as a protective factor in this process.
The direct beneficiaries of this initiative will be 30 adults with chronic diseases, as well as young people at risk of developing them who are residents of the Las Delicias neighborhood of the municipality of San Juan del Sur. The execution of the activities in the community will take place for 7 months starting in May 2024.
